espanyolet

While traveling the world, ex-New Yorkers Melissa Rosenbauer and Thomas Bossert found themselves indigo-dyeing and batik-making in Bali—and quickly fell in love with the art of creating things by hand. Soon thereafter, the husband-and-wife team settled in rural Mallorca, specifically in Son Espanyolet, where their textiles collaboration gets its name. Hand-painted in their home studio, each pillow, blanket, and lampshade is one-of-a-kind due to the imperfect textures of the natural-fiber materials, all locally sourced antique cloths made of hemp and flax, and because the small-batch pigments absorb at different rates (resulting in a beautiful gradated design). What’s more, each piece is named after a village on the Balaeric island, and reflects the rich Mediterranean culture in vibrant, modern colors.
