Walk into either of certified herbalist/masseuse/wellness practitioner/aromatherapist Barbara Close’s New York stores (there’s one in Chelsea and the OG one is in the Hamptons) and the first thing you’ll notice are the gorgeous, enormous glass dispensers filled with every sort of botanical tincture and oil. She’s been making her incredible tinctures, skin care, wellness teas, hair care, and oil blends for over 20 years, as well as conducting life-changing treatments from massages to energy-lifting aromatic facials; the brand now serves organic juices and treats. A major plus: The apothecary-chic packaging is made of recycled materials whenever possible—the tubes are made from 70% post-consumer recycled plastic, while the cartons are made entirely from post-consumer waste recycled fibers. The concoctions inside are pure and powerful: The SPF formulas are some of the best in clean beauty, the oil is exquisite, and the super-hydrating creams make a huge difference in skin.
