Established in 1872 in Solingen, Germany—long-established as the capital of fine cutlery and high-quality knives in particular—Windmuehlenmesser is a fourth-generation, family-operated business. The company, which has remained relatively small over the years (their manufacturing facility is now about 60-people strong), has preserved an all but lost artisanal grinding technique that makes Windmuehlenmesser’s knives far sharper and longer-lasting than any industrially produced counterpart. Not to mention—they look and feel like actual works of art.
