About the Brand
South Korea-born designer Tina Kim founded Bansuk in 2014, and her angular, minimalist approach to modern separates makes for chic, versatile wardrobe linchpins—everything from the perfect wide-leg trousers to cool-girl silk evening dresses. After graduating from the Parsons School of Design, Kim went on to work with Alice and Olivia, Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs, and Tibi. As the head of Tech and Development Coordination at Suno, she met their Kenyan liaison, Ruth Mukami; before long, the two of them had teamed up to launch Bansuk with a socially conscious production and manufacturing process. Today, Kim’s gorgeous designs are created in the brand’s own factory in Kenya, where Kenyan women are taught lifelong skills in management, sewing, patternmaking, and production.
