What Goes Around Comes Around

Hermes Togo 35 Birkin Bag

US $15,500.00

The legendary Birkin bag hardly requires an introduction, but here’s one anyway: Made in 1983, it was named after British actress/model/singer Jane Birkin after an inflight run-in with a Hermès chief executive—in first class, presumably—inspired the creation of a structured leather weekender to suit both her taste and her on-the-go lifestyle. Today, the front flap with lock hardware and streamlined, boxy silhouette is truly iconic, in part for how practical and utilitarian it is: it’s roomy inside, and its double top-handles can be carried over the shoulder, slung on the arm, or in hand, like a tote. This one-of-a-kind vintage Birkin is made of togo leather (an extra-soft, scratch-resistant calf leather introduced in 1997), meaning that with proper care, this gem will last for generations.
