WHICH PROTOCOL IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Each regimen is designed to support optimal nutritional levels, promote general wellness, and re-balance your system. While not a cure/treatment/prevention of disease, these protocols can help address the four mind and body issues that plague most women we know. The questions below will help you determine which protocol may provide support where you need it most.

If you answer yes to more than three questions, the protocol is a good choice for you—if you answer yes to three or more questions on multiple protocols, choose the one that addresses your most acute need. You can easily transition to a different protocol in a few months (i.e., Why Am I So Effing Tired? to Balls in the Air, or Balls in the Air to The Mother Load.)

    1. When you wake up in the morning, do you already feel tired, even if you got a fair amount of sleep? Do you feel tired all day?
    2. Do you find that you turn to caffeine, sugar, and salt to help you get through the day?
    3. Does your mind race, even when you feel tired?
    4. Are you feeling constipated, or having excessive gas or bloating?
    5. Do you feel like it’s become a struggle to lose weight, even though your routine is otherwise healthy?
    6. Are you feeling depressed, or struggling to remember things or focus?
    7. Do you feel like you get every cold that goes around?
    8. Do you have a diminished sex drive?

    3. Do you crave sweet foods? If so, have you tried to stop eating them but found that you couldn’t? Is it difficult to stop eating carbohydrate-rich foods, such as chocolate, ice cream, or french fries?
    4. Have you been told your blood sugar is higher than normal, or do you know that it is greater than 85 mg/dL (milligrams per deciliter)?
    5. When you go without eating for more than four hours, do you feel shaky, anxious, or irritable?

MEET DR. OSCAR SERRALLACH

Oscar Serrallach, M.D. graduated from Auckland School of Medicine in New Zealand in 1996. He specialized in general practice, family medicine, and did further training in functional medicine, working in a number of hospital and community-based jobs, as well as in an alternative community in Nimbin that exposed him to nutritional medicine, herbalism, and home birth. He has been working in the Byron Bay area of NSW, Australia since 2001, where he lives with his partner, Caroline, and their three children. Serrallach currently practices at the integrative medicine center, The Health Lodge, and his first book, Mothermorphosis, comes out in 2018 from goop Press.

Why he developed the protocol

Many mothers-to-be are already depleted leading up to conception and pregnancy time. The extra demands of being pregnant, having a baby, and breastfeeding—all of which have years-long, lasting effects on the body—mean that moms require a lot of nutrients to recover and hit their stride again. This supplement regimen speeds up the process, while fixing any specific deficiencies that good food alone might not be able to right.

About the Brand

Determining which vitamins to take can be overwhelming: it’s hard to choose from a vast array of products, and there is a ton of conflicting information—plus, there are well-founded concerns about what’s actually in them, which range from whether supplements contain what they claim, to questions about ingredient quality (and occasionally toxicity). This is too bad, as the modern, American diet often calls for extra vitamin and mineral support—and we all deserve products that actually work.

At goop, we’ve built our brand by starting important conversations, and turning to the best doctors and experts in the field for advice and solutions. Not only are these doctors on the cutting-edge of what’s coming next, but they work tirelessly in their fields on protocols to help as many patients as possible. They understand what we need; they understand what works.

With goop WELLNESS, we’ve partnered with these practitioners to deliver health-defining vitamin and supplement regimens that address acute needs. Clear your shelves of all those random bottles, because each of our daily packets contains everything you are probably looking for.
